Scholars in the social sciences have, over the past few decades, been increasingly concerned about relationship between theory and practice in their disciplines. The essays included in this volume exlore the philosophical assumptions, explicit or implicit, of a number of social science disciplines; and in doing so, attempt to highlight approaches to the exploration of reality which can form the basis of a truly rigorous social science, having as its objective the creation of the good society in our midst.
